I found out yesterday that Bonnie is a Wii Boxing champion. She took down all 6 of us, some twice, before finally being defeated. And the only reason I think she was defeated was because she had been playing non-stop for, oh, about 20 or so rounds. Well played Bonnie! Just stay away from the ears!

In order to broaden your movie enjoyment (and mine) I am going to list my Top Ten movies by Category. I will try and do this every so often and please feel free to share your opinions on movies that you think I should have included. I figured since I have already listed my favorite Pixar movies the next step is Disney (Non Pixar) and Animated movies. So here it goes.

Discovery

Confession: I love the Discovery Channel. Yes, I know I am a geek but I could watch Discovery for hours on end. And I have! It has taken every ounce of self control I have not to buy the Planet Earth DVDs. If you haven't seen any of Planet Earth you are missing out. I think they invented HDTV's and Blu-Ray players just for this series, it looks amazing. The latest series form Discovery is When We Left Earth. It chronicles of all of the NASA mission in 6 one hour episodes, starting with the Mercury missions. Now like most people who attended elementary school I know the outcome of most of the NASA missions leading up to the Moon landing, yet during this series I was still on the edge of my seat. I also didn't realize that 12 people had walked on the Moon, for some reason I thought far fewer people had stepped foot there. Tonight is the final two hours and I am sure I will be up til midnight watching them. Who needs sleep? If you get the chance to watch them, and are interested in space at all, I would highly recommend this series.

Quick Movie Review-Get Smart

Another weekend, another movie review. This week Get Smart. I don't know how many of you remember Get Smart from its days on TV. I remember watching it as a kid and always wanting a shoe phone. The movie stars Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway and Alan Arkin. They all do good job and they along with the rest of the cast seem to be enjoying themselves. The movie has a lot of laugh out loud moments and mixes these moments well with the action and suspense. The plot is a little too easy to figure out but overall this is not a bad summer movie, in fact it is the best movie I have seen this summer since Ironman. Overall Grade: B+

Favorite Pixar Movies

I was forced to watch Disney movies for 3 years, (Thanks Hollywood Video) now mind you this didn't bother me. I think that animated movies are great and lately they have been the only funny movies released. (see the review of Zohan below) So in honor of Wall-E coming out next week I thought I would list my favorite Pixar movies.

1. Finding Nemo-This may be my favorite movie of all time.


2. Toy Story- The first Pixar movie and a great comedy/buddy movie.


3. Cars- I love automobiles and this movie is a love story to the auto and the road trip.


4. A Bugs Life- So many great lines are in this movie. "We are going around the stick."


5. Toy Story 2- A very original sequel that lives up to the first.
6. The Incredibles- A good action movie that just happens to be animated. "No Cape!"


7. Monsters Inc.- "Kitty"


8. Ratatouille - My least favorite of the Pixar movies, but it looks amazing for a cartoon.

Well there you have it, my ranking of the Pixar movies. The quality of all these movies makes them some of the best films every released. I have heard good things about Wall-E and as a movie geek I am excited to see it, even if there isn't any "talking" for the first 20 minutes. Sometimes talking is very overrated and movies are just as much visual entertainment as anything else. Surfs Up!

I was at the Bees game yesterday with my family when me and my sister and Collin started talking about surfing. Collin had gone to the Flowrider in Ogden for Jr. Prom. They rented the whole place for an hour at $200 for the whole group. Well seeing as Michelle and I, along with Nonda, Russ and the Twinages, had gone surfing in Hawaii we are more then ready to go again. So I think that we should get a group and go to the Flowrider, if its a large group the cost won't be that bad. To learn more about the Flowrider click here.

Quick Movie Review: The Happening

Saw The Happening tonight and.... well it was not good. The best thing that can be said about it is that it was un-intently funny in parts. I am all for a good horror movie but this was not it, it was just not scary or suspenseful. I won't ruin the plot in case you plan on seeing this but lets just say if you didn't like the way Signs ended you won't like this one. I rate this below the Village, and just above Unbreakable, on my rankings of M. Night's movies. Is it worse than Lady in the Water? I wouldn't know as I never saw that one and at this rate I don't know if I will see his next movie. Special Acting Award to Zooey Deschanel (who I still love) and her amazing eye acting! Overall Grade: C-

Hello. My name is JP Sally III. I enjoy long drives, cool nights, snow, and anything off the beaten path. For proof that I can clean up nicely, I provide the above picture. Who needs a bubble bath when you can have a nice flooded stream? Props to Russ for taking the pic, after finding out the hard way that the water was colder and deeper then first thought. Quick Movie Review

I just got back from You Don't Mess with the Zohan and I am sad to say this (okay not that sad), but I have outgrown Adam Sandler movies. I have had this feeling with his last few movies but this one was the last straw. It was just not funny or stupidly entertaining. It lasted for what seemed like hours and hours. If you see one movie this weekend make sure it is not this. Don't just take my word for it, click here. Thank you. Overall Grade: D

Books vs. Movies

I am currently reading the Chronicles of Narnia books and it started me thinking, which is better the book or the movies. Now I have only read the first two books in this series but so far I give the nod to the movies. Then I started thinking, how do other books fair vs. the movie version. One of my favorite books is Timeline by Micheal Crichton. The book is a great page turner and it is very hard to put down. It has everything you could ever ask for in a book; history, sci-fi, romance, adventure, jousting, etc. Oh but then there is the movie. I am not sure if whoever wrote the screenplay actually read the book. Sure, some of the plot points are the same but the cast is awful. Now maybe I am just biased as I loved book but the movie was so bad that it was funny. When me and my friend Becky went and saw it (we had both read the book mind you) we couldn't help but laughing and commenting on the movie, think Mystery Science Theater 3000. Now this isn't verified but I think the other people in the theater started listening to our comments versus watching the movie, yes it was that bad! Two words: Paul Walker! To the point of this; which books did you love but the movie was a complete letdown? Post away.

What I Did On My Summer Vacation

I miss summer vacation. I think this stems from the fact that I don't want to grow up, being an adult is not as fun as one is led to believe. Anyway, I just got back from a week in Hawaii and I am already wanting to go on another vacation. Luckily my bank account is not ready (and it is in charge), so I will have to wait.
