I went to the dentist to have some cavities filled. Yes I know I should floss more and this is what I get for not doing so. Then on my way home I stop by my parents where Russ informs me that it looks like I had some bad botox done on my lips. Then after a moment he tells me I look like...

That's right he says my lips look like Jennifer Coolidge's! To which I have no witty reply because my lips are swollen shut! Ah, Good Times.

Windy City Here I Come

Well tonight I just planned a spontaneous trip to Chicago. I got the itch last week to visit the Windy City in a month that it is not frozen. The last time I was there it was February and freezing. I went online and found a fairly cheap round trip flight, recruited by brother Russ and cousin Bryce, found a nice hotel for a reasonable price and that was that. I am all set to take a mini vacation in August. Chicago is the one big city that I can picture myself living in, it just has a small Midwestern feel to it. I was only there for one night last time but loved it and have wanted to go back ever since. If you have any suggestion on things to do in the Second City, please let me know.

ROAD TRIP!

My boss just got back from Canada and brought me back my favourite (note Canadian spelling) candy bar that you can't get in the states, the Cadbury Wunderbar. There really is no way to describe the goodness that is the Wunderbar. It is basically creamy Cadbury chocolate (which is not the same as the Cadbury chocolate sold here) covering peanut butter and caramel. And now that I have had a taste of it I want more! Canada is only a short drive up 1-15 through Idaho. Who's In? I am thinking that I will be needing boxes and boxes.

Top Ten Comic Book Movies

After seeing The Dark Knight for the second time, I felt it was time for my Top Ten Comic Book Movies. So here we go!

1. Batman Begins-I was a fan of Batman the Animated Series because it was not as over the top as the live action movies. This movie changed all that by making Batman a action packed thrill ride with a really good plot.
2. The Dark Knight-This movie just barley misses the top spot because it would not have existed without Batman Begins. The acting in this movie jumps up a few notches from its predecessor and it continues the trend set forth by Batman Begins by having a deep plot. Plus Heath Ledger is amazing as the Joker.
3. X2: X-Men United-This was my favorite comic growing up. I would get up early every Saturday just to watch the cartoon series. This is another sequel that lives up, and surpasses, its predecessor.
4. X-Men-See the first sentence above. This is the movie that took comic books from cheesy, over the top fair to action packed movies with actually plots and real characters.
5. Ironman-Yes I included this movie on my action list. Yes it was at the top of that list but when compared to the movies before it here your gonna need a little more than just action. Still a great movie.
6. Spiderman-I admit that I liked the first Spidey movie. Sadly, it was all downhill from here.
7. V for Vendetta-It took me awhile to get around to seeing this one but when I did I was pleasantly surprised. Natalie Portman even has a believable English accent.
8. Batman Returns-Okay, so it is cheesy but it has Catwomen, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, so all is forgiven.
9. X3: The Last Stand-This makes the list because they finally made Storm like she should have been all along and because it gives us the Phoenix storyline, which was my favorite from the comics. Too bad the rest of the movie didn't hold up.
10. Spiderman 2-Uh...I couldn't think of any other movies that I like more than this one, so it gets the last place on the list. Not great, but compared to Spidey 3 it looks like a masterpiece.

Things I Love (This Week) - Lovely Ladies Who Laugh

Bonnie Hunt should be in everything, if only for a minute. One of the funniest things I have ever seen was Bonnie Hunt on The Late Show with David Letterman many years ago. I laughed so hard at her random stories and witty banter with Dave that my stomach hurt for a week. Plus she is talented, she co-wrote, directed, and co-stared in Return to Me. And she was the voice of SALLY in Cars, which just so happens to be the name of my Jeep.



Up next is Kristin Chenoweth who I had never heard of, or heard, until my friend Tracy made me listen to the Wicked soundtrack at work, multiple times. Then I saw her in RV and couldn't believe that the voice I heard on the soundtrack was coming for this little tiny women. Kristin really won me over in Pushing Daisies where see works at the Pie Hole. If you haven't had a chance to watch the show you really should check it out Kristin is a surprisingly good comedian and this show is way different (in a good way) from anything else on TV.



Last but not least is Meg Ryan (pre-bad botox). I have had a crush on Meg since I fist saw her in Top Gun. Then came a little movie called Addicted to Love. Sure it's not the best movie out there but I love Meg's character in this movie, if she were real I would marry her in a second or at least get a restraining order placed on me just as quick. There is a part in the movie where she is talking about her dog (see the movie!!) and at the end of the talk she looks at Matthew Broderick and that looks gets me every time. It almost even makes up for the bad botox...almost!

Mental Vacation

I just got done cleaning my deck (pine needles are way worse then leaves, by the way) and sat down on my new deck chairs and took a mental vacation. That's right I just sat there and daydreamed while the birds tweeted and the brook babbled and the sun went down. Here are the places I was dreaming I was at:

Haunted House?

Last night I came to the conclusion that my house is haunted. What leads me to believe this, you ask? Well a few weeks back I was sitting at my table eating dinner, minding my own business when the microwave just turns on. That's right just starts going, nothing inside, no time listed outside, nothing! Now normally I would just let this go as some kind of fluke but no, other things keep happening. For instance about a month ago at about 10:30 I swear there is a knock at my door, I get up from bed to check it out and swear I see an outline of a person through the window by my front door. I go open the door and no one is there. Odd? Yes. But I did just see The Strangers so could chalk it up to mind games on my part. But here is the clincher. Last night at THREE in the morning my computer decides to turn off and then restart along with all the chimes and dings that go with it. Now as anyone who has heard the chimes of a computer restarting can tell you, they are not scary noises. Now imagine them at 3am when the other two things have happened and you live alone. Right, you'd be paranoid too. So that is why I think my house is haunted. Anyone know a good exorcist? Or Linda Blair for that matter?

Top Ten Action Movies

As promised here is another of my top ten movie lists. Up this time: Action Movies

1. Casino Royale - A great reboot of the Bond movies and great action from the first frame to the last. If you haven't seen it, stop reading now and do so.


2. The Bourne Supremacy - One of the best sequel movies ever, regardless of genre.


3. Speed - Sure the plot is kind of far out there and cheesy but the movie is cast perfectly and this is one bus ride you are certain to enjoy.


4. The Bourne Identity - A surprisingly original, thought filled action movie.


5. The Bourne Ultimatum - Even after two movies before it the franchise still keeps the hits coming.


6. Mission: Impossible -Who would have thought that a 60's TV show would translate into such a classic action movie.


7. Ironman - I did not think that I would like this movie. I did and it has already secured a spot on my top ten. Well done Ironman, well done.


8. Executive Decision - Kurt Russell, Halle Berry and an Airplane. Action never looked so good at 30,000 feet.


9. Air Force One- Harrison Ford as the Commander in Chief. Another great action movie not set on solid ground.


10. The Rundown - This one may be more buddy comedy then action movie but it is still fun.

And there they are, my favorite action movies. Honorable Mention awards are given to Mission: Impossible 3, for making up for M:I2 and The Incredibles which would have landed a spot here if it wasn't already mentioned on the Pixar list. As with all of these lists I reserve the right to add or remove movies after watching other movies or re-watching those on the list and reevaluating them. Happy Movie Watching!

Rants & Raves

People of the Blogsphere I am feeling the urge to rant and rave today. The only thing is I have no idea what I want to rant and rave about. High gas prices, sure but that's not going to make it any better. The heat, well it is summer in the desert so what part of that should be shocking. The fact that the radio always plays commercials; no wait I gave up on listening to the radio long ago and with gas prices so high I can't drive my car anyway! Nope that won't do. How about people texting and answering their phones while in a movie. Okay, there is something I can get behind. I mean what is so important that it can't wait two hours. On second thought I have been one of those people, but only once or twice, so that won't work. Well I am running out of things to rant and rave about. Hummm......nope nothing. I guess that is not so bad, I mean things could be a lot worse. When did I turn into a glass half full type of person, can't even rant about anything, honestly! Well if you have anything you feel like ranting or raving about, please comment away. Maybe it will give me an idea or two.
