No Sleep!

As some of you know I have not been sleeping all that great lately and I thought I had been managing it fairly well. Well last night a perfect storm hit that finally did me in. I figured I would go to the gym on Monday to try and wear myself out. This should have been a easy thing to do since I haven't been there in quite some time and just walking up the stairs would have been a workout. Well after an hour of putting myself through that paces I called it a night. Then it was off to eat some dinner and hopefully go to sleep. Well the dinner part went as planned but the sleep part was a little off. I had no problem going to sleep but I woke up at four with an upset stomach that was more then a rude awakening. So after about an hour and of half of lying in the fetal position I came to the decision that Tuesday was going to be a sick day. I haven't been up at 5am in quite some time and now know why. There is nothing but news on and that really doesn't calm one to sleep, so I switched over to Friends and slipped in and out of sleep during the final season. Then I watched the first half of Ironman before finally getting back to sleep around 10. Now I am just waiting for the sleeping pills to kick in (I had been hoping to avoid taking them) so that I can get some sleep and go to work in the morning. I have heard just about every cause and effect that may be causing this, but if you feel like you may have a suggestion I haven't heard by all means comment away. I am sure this post will make no sense when I read it later, oh well at least you all will have been entertained.

Things I Love This Week: TiVo

Ah, Tivo where would I be without you. Probably not sitting on the couch basking in your warm glow. I know there are other DVR options out there, but once you go Tivo you never go back. Teddy Tivo, as I like to call him, is so user friendly and makes all sorts of happy sounds that I just can't imagine my life without him. Is it sad that I am referring to an inanimate object as a person? Yes. But really I don't care; I get to watch tons of shows when I want without commercials. Really it is a time saver, for each hour show I get 20 minutes back. Think of all the things I could do with that saved time... Yeah, who am I kidding, I will just watch another show!

Pics of Pics

My friends Caity & Bob (aka BobCat) are moving and Caity had an interesting post on her blog talking about all the pictures that make their house a home. Caity challenged (for lack of a better word) her readers to post pictures of what is on their walls at home and since Caity is responsible for half the pictures in my house I decided to play along. Please forgive the poor picture quality. It is late and I haven't slept in a while but I wanted to get this up before I forgot.

Happy Birthday Miss Kayla!

The Dreaded Montuesday

The dreaded Montuesday has reared its ugly head once again. Don't get me wrong I love having Mondays off and I love that most holidays fall on Mondays. But all that really means is after a long relaxing weekend I have to face the Montuesday. Caity and I have had numerous conversations about the perils that encompass Montuesday's but for some reason, it may be denial, I always think the next Montuesday will be better. I don't know why. Having to shove two days worth of work into one day will never get better. Would I be willing to give up my Monday off to forgo the Montuesday you ask? NO! I love long weekends and if that is the price I have to pay then bring on the next Montuesday, although the next holiday will be a Thurfriday so it won't be nearly as bad as a Montuesday, right? Right?

Interesting....

This is a very interesting idea. Chrysler needs some serious help after being destroyed by the Germans and GM is finally starting to make good, solid cars again. But is this just a case of two wrongs not making a right? GM needs another brand (Chrysler has three) like Vegas needs another casino. There are parts that fit, GM has all but given up on the minivan and mid-size SUV markets and Chrysler hasn't thrown in the white towel on those segments just yet and still makes some solid products (Chrysler T&C, 2009 Dodge Ram, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler). Plus Chrysler could use GM's help in making a decent interior. The real thing to remember here is that GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz was running Chrysler before Daimler came knocking back in the 90's when Chrysler still made decent looking cars and trucks and buckets of money. Time will tell if these talks go anywhere but it isn't a bad idea but it may be too big to work.

On Notice!

I have put the following things ON NOTICE

  1. My computer: Lately the stupid antivirus software has acted just like the things it has supposedly been keeping off of my computer. It keeps trying to load and in the process causes everything else to stop working. Turning the computer off only makes things worse. Finally after many reboots and several hours does Windows kick in and disable the program. I have since tried to delete said antivirus software only to have the computer tell me that I don't have the rights to do so!!! One more act like this and it is straight to the Apple store and I really don't have the money for that.
  2. itunes: Don't think I didn't notice that you were the root of the above problem after your latest update failed due to some Apple Mobile software, which I am pretty sure is for an iPhone that I don't even have. Thanks to your failed update, I couldn't update my iPod which caused me to reboot my computer only to have the antivirus software take over!!! Maybe it isn't off to the Apple store after all.
  3. Private Practice: Why have you become such a crappy show? I love Kate Walsh and if you get canceled and she doesn't get shipped back to Seattle Grace I don't know what I will do. This is why I was never behind the idea of a spin-off show. Bad things happen to good characters on spin-offs. Just ask Joey.
  4. The Economy: Ok, this one I don't have any control over, but I am so sick of hearing bad news that I am not going to listen anymore. That's right, me the news junkie has had enough. That saying no news is good news, I am putting that into effect right now.
  5. Politicians: See Above. Insert mud slinging, no direct answers, more mud slinging. I can't wait for November 4th to be over with, this has been the loooooongest election season I can remember.
  6. My bed: Listen we need to get something straight. I don't like waking up at all hours of the night. You used to be very comfortable but now perhaps you are too comfortable. Or perhaps my not sleeping is due to one of the above. That is more likely, but you're still on notice.
  7. Duck: You know who you are, noisy duck outside of my window. I don't know what your problem is or if you are tying to get the baritone spot on some sort of duck choir or practicing to take over Linda Blair's role in a new Exorcist movie but 5am is not the time for practicing either. Maybe you are the cause for the above issue...be careful I think duck hunt season is soon.
  8. My fridge: Why are you always empty??
  9. My gas tank: See Above.
  10. My bank account: See previous two entries. At least my bank is still around for now (see reason 4). But so help me, if you somehow get bought by Chase I am putting my money, all $18 of it, under my mattress. Hum, maybe that will make it easier to sleep. I might be on to something...

That about wraps up the things I am putting on notice. I am off to try and get a decent sleep for the first time this week. Cheers!

Rain, Rain

Don't get me wrong, I am all for the rain and enjoy it most of the time. I especially love the time after it rains and the sky starts to clear and the air is crisp and clean. But does it always have to rain on the weekend? Am I asking for too much that it rain during the week when I am trapped inside all day long? Oh well, at least I get to enjoy the time after the rain, like these pictures which were taken from my deck, or the free car wash that I got while driving around town. I guess the rain isn't so bad.
